At our recent Blog Council Member meeting, Debbie Curtis-Magley of UPS led a small group discussion about gaining advocates at the C-Level for social media. We would like to share some of the questions raised during that conversation and open it up to the community for your input as well.
Big Opening Idea
Some of the best examples of social media programs started with a CEO directive. But at a number of companies, social media still struggles to gain meaningful support. How can we move the topic beyond conversation to committed advocacy with our executives?
Questions to Kickstart the Conversation
Question 1: How do you get leadership interested and engaged with social media?
Question 2: Is it critical to have C-level involvement to get your company mobilized behind social media? Or can you gain effective support with a bottom-up approach?
Question 3: How do you demonstrate the opportunity (and risk of ignoring) social media?
Question 4: Do executives need to be personally involved, e.g. blog or tweet, to appreciate the influence of this medium?
Question 5: Given the turmoil in the business market, how can social media get serious consideration?
Missed the discussion? We’d love to see you at our next member meeting. For more information on how to join the Blog Council, please contact us (http://blogcouncil.org/contact/).
