Motorola uses wiki to maintain community-built documentation
Corporate Social Media Case Study: Motorola
Tech products have a time problem. Since their instruction manuals are written well in advance of the products’ eventual release date, documentation that comes included is often already outdated by the time it gets in a consumer’s hands. To get around this problem for its Moto Q phone, Motorola started a wiki and invited customers to contribute to a continually evolving instructions manual. The community is moderated, and comes complete with a set of “house rules” to ensure the wiki stays on-topic. The company also uses the site to find their Motorola Q-perts — experts drawn from the community who frequent the site and also contribute regularly to its support forums.
