Corporate Social Media Case Study: Procter & Gamble

With nearly 140,000 employees in more than 160 countries, the P&G workforce decided they needed to find a better way to connect beyond simple email and instant messaging. The company is using a Telligent-based platform called PeopleConnect to give employees a way to share ideas. The platform is similar to Facebook, allowing users to form and join groups, interact through blogs, wikis, forums, and post profiles and status updates.

“Until now, wikis, blogs, podcasts — they felt like the place for the techno-elite,” said Michael Fulton, an enterprise manager at P&G. “This platform makes it easy for everyone to participate.”

The social media outlet has already been a big hit with P&G employees. Nearly 12,000 users embraced PeopleConnect even before formal marketing began for the platform.
