Corporate Social Media Case Study: Dell
In a blog post on Direct2Dell, Dell’s Chief Blogger, Lionel Menchaca, shared how Dell has evolved from their initial “connecting and responding” social media strategy to their current key goals of streamlining, aggregation, syndication, and scalability.
What originally began largely as a customer service tool has grown into so much more, explains Lionel. Today, Dell’s worldwide community has swelled to more than 3.5 million members and they’ve used Twitter to bring in more than $6.5 million in revenue. Lionel went on to explain that the coordination of their social media efforts is at the heart of their social future, and added that isolated social media strategies aren’t the road to long-term success.

Disclosure: Dell is a Social Media Business Council member (and an awesome one at that!), but even if they weren’t, we’d write about them anyway.
