eBay uses social media to encourage smarter, greener shopping choices

November 24, 2009

Corporate Social Media Case Study: eBay

Through its re + purpose campaign, eBay has created an online community to educate consumers about shopping sustainably and buying green.

Using Facebook and Twitter as primary communication tools, the company’s Green Team has made it easy for eBay users to buy and sell products that save energy and resources, and that are sustainably made. Eco-conscious consumers who sign up for re + purpose are also entered into a $5,000 sweepstakes, with eBay donating $1 to Global Green USA for each registration.
