Blog Council's roundup of upcoming member events

Here’s a rundown of the upcoming member events the Blog Council will be hosting:

Guest Show and Tell: Fighting Fire — NGOs and social media with Brian Humphrey of the LA Fire Department.

When: Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 1 PM (EST)

Overview: Brian Humphrey is single-handedly bringing LA’s fire department into the social media era and is using tools like Twitter and Yahoo Pipes to alert both firefighters and citizens of critical information. Join the call and learn why Brian believes social media “…holds more potential to save lives than any other civic tool.”

See Brian’s recent story in WIRED.

Unconference Calls

Four members will be hosting virtual unconference calls recapping their topics from the San Jose Unconference. These calls are good ol’ fashioned interactive dialogues in which members share ideas and ask questions on a given topic.

Upcoming calls include:

  • 12/9, 1 PM (EST) – Communicating with Bloggers, Molly Schonthal, Nokia
  • 12/9, 2 PM (EST) – Using Video in Blogs, Lee Aase and Elizabeth Rice, Mayo Clinic
  • 12/10, 2 PM (EST) – Legal Can Survive Blogging, Jessica Fredrickson, Walmart
  • 12/11, 2 PM (EST) – Gaining Advocates at the C-Level, Debbie Curtis-Magley, UPS
  • 1/13, 1 PM (EST) – Show and Tell with Megan Parker, GE

Note:

These events are member-only. However, watch this space for details on upcoming public events.
