Check out Burson-Marsteller’s examination of the Fortune 100′s current use of social media tools including Twitter, Facebook, and blogs. The data, collected between July 2 and July 17, is based on content accessible via “reasonable effort” — i.e. by Facebook or Google search for the company name, or by looking for a blog on a corporate site.
Here are some interesting finds from the study:
- 54% of the Fortune 100 are using Twitter, making it the platform of choice
- 69% of companies with at least one active Twitter account post at least four times a week
- 94% of brands active on Twitter use it to share news, updates and announcements
- 29% of Fortune 100 companies actively communicate via a Facebook fan page
- 32% of the Fortune 100 have corporate blogs — often written by executives personally communicating company initiatives
