Social media survey: 88% of nonprofits experimenting with social media

In a survey conducted by Weber Shandwick and KRC Research, 88% of the 200 nonprofit executives surveyed are widely experimenting with social media, with just over half of those executives being active users themselves.

The study also found:

  • 79% are unsure how to demonstrate social media’s value for their organizations
  • 92% say their online presence raises awareness for their organization
  • 86% say social media helps keep external audiences engaged
  • 77% say social media reduces costs relative to traditional media
