Pitney Bowes CEO Mike Critelli authors a blog called “Open Mike.” Besides featuring his personal views on a variety of topics — some of which are not about the company’s business — Mike has a very prominent link on the sidebar called “Why I Blog.” The post functions as both a very forthright “about me” statement and disclosure policy in one fell swoop.

Disclosure: Pitney Bowes is a member of the Blog Council, but we would have linked to them anyway because we think they’re great. Read our disclosure policy.

Southwest Airlines’ Nuts About Southwest blog was one of the first modern corporate blogs, and is commonly held up as a core example for corporate blogging best practices.  PR Week agrees, and named it the best corporate blog for the second year in a row.

Congratulations to Brian Lusk, Paula Berg, and the rest of the Nuts About Southwest team on the well-deserved recognition!

Not every post on a corporate blog needs to be about new products.  On the Nokia Conversations blog, James Beechinor-Collin has been reporting back on the interesting technology he’s seeing at the Nokia Research Center during the company’s “The Way We Live Next” event.  In his latest post, James points out that there are 3.3 billion mobile devices around the world.  With approximately one billion of those from Nokia, he mentions that the company’s engineers are actually looking into ways of using data collected from those devices to aggregate a continuously accurate weather report.

Sometimes, you can find the future on a corporate blog.

Cadence Design Systems has made their corporate blog and community the centerpiece of their new company website. Cadence’s site is a great example of how many large companies are turning to a more conversational way of interacting with consumers. Thanks to Jeremiah Owyang for the story.
