In her BlogWell San Francisco case study presentation, “Harvesting the Low-Hanging Fruit of Internal Social Media Channels,” Kaiser Permanente’s Director of Internet Marketing Services, Hilary Weber, discusses the trend of turning social media inward and having employees use social networking tools as a way to increase efficiencies in information sharing and collaboration — with the fringe benefit of a deeper, hands-on understanding of social networking behavior as they then consider it as a way to reach customers and prospects.

Hilary’s case study covers Intuit’s “IdeaBook” — used like an internal town square where wikis serve as virtual tool sheds for teams, as well as some of their internal policies for employee participation and the platforms they’re using.
