Corporate Social Media Case Study: St. John’s University
Peter Robert Casey is changing the way St. John’s fans follow their Red Storm. The reporter has been hired by the University as an independent news source to blog during live games from his own Twitter account.
Casey isn’t focusing on giving fans score updates or waiting to report tidbits after the game. Instead, he provides fans with interesting locker-room updates, quotes from players and staff, live crowd atmosphere and game photos, all right from his BlackBerry. In ten months, Casey has marketed himself and the University’s basketball squad remarkably well: Nearly 51,000 people follow Casey on Twitter come game time.
